EPCnet Online is a Java application. This requires your computer to have the Java Runtime Environment and Java WebStart installed before the application itself can be downloaded and run. Please refer to the Hardware Requirements to be sure your computer is able to run EPCnet Online before you subscribe.
Download the Java Runtime Environment and WebStart, following the step-by-step instructions below. Simply click on the Java icon to download The Java Runtime Emvironment (JRE) 5.0 Update 4 for Windows, which is approximately 8 MB when using the Windows Online Installation feature. If you have anti-virus software, a firewall, or other security software, you may need to configure it and allow certain actions that may seem suspicious, or even temporarily disable it in order to allow the installation to proceed successfully.
In the Windows Control Panel, select Internet Options, and open the Advanced tab. Scroll down to the "Java (Sun)" section and uncheck the box on the line "Use JRE 1.x.x for <applet> (requires restart)"
Once you have subscribed, log in to the site from the Start page. Once you are logged in, you will see a link to launch EPCnet Online. After you click on that link, the EPCnet Online application itself will download to your computer's Java cache. This file is approximately 3.5 MB in size. You may receive one or two security warnings related to this action. Review each one and accept them by selecting "Start" and "Install" (or similar wording) respectively. (ProQuest Automotive and/or SnapOn are the developers of EPCnet Online)
In subsequent logons, the application will automatically check if it is the latest version. If it is, it will start immediately. If a new version of the application is available, it will automatically download from the site before starting.Depending upon your security settings, a security warning may appear – please accept it to continue working with EPCnet Online.
